Why the Support is Provided?
The New Exporter Development Program (NEDP) delivers a range of initiatives to identify and develop Queensland’s potential exporters and assist them to become sustainable exporters.
The NEDP aims to enhance market access through the provision of products and services to support Queensland exporters.
The NEDP is jointly delivered with Austrade, the Australian Government’s export development agency.
What Support is Provided?
You can access a series of linked programs that NEDP provides that will support your business from the stage of developing an interest in exporting through to becoming an exporter.
Trade Queensland can offer your business a package of services designed to assist you, as a small or medium sized company, to develop your business overseas and make your first export sale.
These services include:
• Getting Export Smart
This introductory seminar and 4-part workshop series is a practical hands-on export training program which is facilitated by experienced international business advisers from government and industry.
• Export Master Class
The Export Master Class provides specialised expertise to Queensland exporters and targets established exporters or exporters who have already had export experience and/or completed introductory level export skills workshops provided by the Department.
• Mentoring for Export
Your firm can receive tailored advice on the strategic issues that arise when pursuing international business opportunities.
• Virtual Trade Missions
Virtual Trade Missions employ the latest videoconferencing and web streaming telecommunications technology to put buyers and sellers “virtually” in the same room.
The Following Eligibility Criteria Apply:
To be eligible under NEDP, your enterprise should meet the following criteria:
• be a Queensland-based enterprise
• have a current Australian Business Number (ABN)
• not have been signed on to the New Exporter Development Program before
• either not have exported more than three times over the past three years,
or if you have exported more than three times over the past three years,
not have exceeded a cumulative export value of $200,000 in that time
• be export capable, which requires:
• a product, service or patented intellectual property with clear export
potential
• management commitment to becoming an exporter and developing the export side
of the business
• an ability to assign export budget and financial resources to get into
export, including a budget to visit the market
• a growth strategy
• an understanding the company will need to participate in coaching before
going on an overseas visit or mission
• marketing materials (ie. a website or brochures), with an understanding that
materials specific to the international market may need to be developed
• the capacity to build supply capability

Definition of Terms:

New / Irregular Exporter |
A ‘New / Irregular Exporter” is defined as a firm that has not earned export revenue of more than $200,000 during the last 3 years (excluding export shipments that are deemed to be paid samples). |

• Your local Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry regional centre (ph. 13 26 50);
or
• Austrade (ph. 13 28 78);
• by completing the attached form.

What Costs are Involved?
You can access many programs free of charge (e.g. Mentoring). However, others attract a nominal charge (e.g. Attendance at Getting Export Smart and Export Master Class Workshops).
